OMEGA - Speedmaster Automatic Reduced Watch

A little brother for the Speedmaster Professional, most certainly. The word "Reduced" is not entirely coincidental.

The new diameter for this Omega is 39mm, compared to 42mm for its sister Professional.

We find a similar box, although the asymmetry of this one is slightly less pronounced, or at least the smaller crown gives a different effect.

 

Tachymeter bezel, white baton hands, three subdials. You have to look at the devil in the details to see the differences.

 

First of all, the chronograph seconds hand is no longer arrowed, and therefore no longer luminescent. The small seconds move from nine to three o'clock, the timer is numbered (1988 model), and the sub-counters, as you will have noticed, are spaced further apart from the center.

If you have even keen eyesight you can see that the two tritium dots at noon have evaporated.

To sum up, the Speedmaster loses its 'Professional' side, and becomes more accessible. Some details are also due to a change of movement.
