
Fabiola gold enamel pendant from Limoges
Round pendant with large setting in solid 18-carat 750 thousandths yellow gold, eagle's head hallmark. Vintage French work from the 1950s, branded on the back “Bardonnaud” and “Limoges”. It is bezel-set with a polychrome Limoges enamel representing a bust of a woman in profile with fine details inspired by the painting “Fabiola” painted in 1885 by Jean-Jacques Henner. The metallic red color of the veil is very bright.
Fabiola is a Roman personality from the 4th century, considered a saint by the Catholic Church. She is the founder of the first hospital in the West. A wounded wife, she was chosen as patron saint of widows, divorcees, battered women and nurses.
